This is on repeat in my house and heart

May 7, 2014 | My Jottings

This is the beautiful song by Audrey Assad that is wounding and healing my heart right now. I want to hear it over and over again. I want its truth worked into my life, deeply and forever.

“I Shall Not Want”

From the love of my own comfort
From the fear of having nothing
From a life of worldly passions
Deliver me O God

From the need to be understood
From the need to be accepted
From the fear of being lonely
Deliver me O God
Deliver me O God

And I shall not want, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want

From the fear of serving others
From the fear of death or trial
From the fear of humility
Deliver me O God
Deliver me O God

And I shall not want, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want

No, I shall not want, I shall not want
When I taste Your goodness I shall not want

When I taste Your goodness I shall not want

This expresses so well the awful uncertainty of life, and the fear, and the faith we sometimes just barely hold on to. Thanks, Julie. I’m praying for you.

So true, Diane. We are all in good company, I think. 🙂 I’m so grateful for your prayers and long, wonderful friendship. xoxo

  8. Larry says:

    Hello Sis:

There comes a time in each of our lives where we begin to fully realize that it is only HIM – that is all we need.

It is a time of hurt and a time of great JOY.

It is a time of the coming of the AGE OF PEACE.

It is a time of our letting all the things that have provided us with security before – with our letting them finally go.

It is also a time for pleasant memories and a gratefulness for all that has been provided us, yet we have so much more in our future to be in prayerful expectation.

I feel your feelings, and I know your quandry well.

You have the HOLY ONE who has been near and waiting for some time now.

It is a “putting off and a putting on” process as we move through life.

It is the process of growing in the image of Christ.

It is a time in life where we are putting off the old crucified thoughts, words and deeds and are now in the process of putting on the thoughts, words and deeds of Christ.

It is a time of saying good bye to a former manner of life and a time in our own – saying hello to the road that Jesus has equipped us with – as we realize that HE has equipped us with every thing we need.

It is the beginning of an even closer walk with HIM.

It is a time when we realize that we have been privileged to have been able to be invested in by another, and also a time when we were also able to invest in one-another, as we grow in the likeness of our LORD.

It is the time for a regeneration.

It is a time of more spiritual growth.

It is a time for transformation from the inside out.

    I love you Sis 🙂

  9. Just Julie says:

I hope I can cooperate with Him for all these things you list, Lar. Love to you… xoxo

  10. Janet Skoglund says:

Every time you share love, prayers and beautiful thoughts are poured back to you. My thoughts daily are Surrender. All to Jesus, I surrender, I surrender all. I have learned though experience and age that we live and continue to live through seasons of life . And some times those seasons can be as brutal as the weather that we have experienced. I have learned also that this to will pass as the seasons pass. Hold close to those you treasure especially Jesus. He brings sacred beauty to our lives.

  11. Just Julie says:

Oh, thank you for what you’ve written, Janet. Such welcome, encouraging reminders. I am watching for the beauty He brings, even in the most unexpected situations. My attitude gets in the way more than I should allow, though. God bless you, dear Janet… xoxo
