Consider the lilies

August 10, 2015 | My Jottings

May God bless your day today….

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass, which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you.”

~~Jesus, the book of Luke, chapter 12.

  1. Kay in Cornwall says:

Hmm …. I need to do some serious meditation over this verse. I think God is speaking to me, but I’m not sure what He is saying. The parts that are catching my attention in particular are: ‘even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these’.
Also: ‘Do not seek what you are to eat or what you are to drink’.
    Any thoughts Julie? 🙂
(Sorry I’ve not been commenting lately, I haven’t felt like doing much of anything because of this awful back pain. Not just the pain itself, but the depression it brings along with it.)

  2. Just Julie says:

I’m so sorry about the pain you’re in, Kay. Nothing wears us down like pain. I’ll pray for you today. I don’t have anything profound to say about the passage, except that it seems like we’re being directed on what to focus on. Where to continually put our thoughts (or not put our thoughts)…. xoxo
