And congratulations on your latest book too, Laurie! Have you read “Unbroken” yet? If so, what did you think?

So many good books to choose from & I know you’ve already read Foster’s book on prayer. What else? If you haven’t discovered Antonia Forest I highly recommend her. Her books can be a little hard to get hold off as her fans hang onto her work & don’t pass it along! lol She wrote children’s books but they are so deep, so realistic, her characters so alive, they are an absolute delight & I learnt all sorts of odd things she just drops casually ~ like Hayklute. ? Hope you are having a blessed week. Chat soon. ?

Hi Sara – welcome here! I loved Ann Voskamp’s book too. I read her blog faithfully and hope you’ve checked it out. I couldn’t agree more with what you’ve shared here – her book is like no other. Come back and visit, and thanks so much for commenting!

Through this book I am learning how to receive God’s love and His life vitality even during the despair of suffering. The author’s writing style is uniquely poetic and she brings a vibrancy to her depictions unlike anything I’ve experienced before. I’m a new reader of your site so I sincerely apologize if this book has been discussed previously!

I saw it on the library shelf and just liked the title – I do that and sometimes I find a great read and othertimes the catchy title was all there was. But this book was really good – lots of family dynamics, funny and sad.

It is a story of the author’s (plus 6 others) escape from a Siberian prison and their subsequent 4000 mile walk to freedom. The authenticity of the story has been argued but I am told it is a great read. The story has been made into a movie.
