You make me smile. I never would have guessed this to be one of your secret desires. Can you rent scooters to see if the reality would be as fun as the dream? Thanks for the reminder that there is always something new or interesting to learn from the people we love.

I am sure your dad would also say ‘go for it’. As I was reading about your Vespa and how your dad handled it, the rush of memories of your father warmed my heart. He truly was
such a wonderful man and even though I did not know him when
you were growing up, it sounded so much like the way he was
about life. He kept his word even though I know he would have
preferred his beautiful daughter was not in any danger. As
Bob Hope always said, “thanks for the memories”. Love, Dorothy

I say go for it. Maybe you could start a club of hot two-wheelin’ mamas in their 50’s! You could have your first get-together in Carlton since that community now has first hand experience dealing with such things. 🙂

Yes, you’ve got it. Up the shore, to the store, and to your house. Maybe to SAGs. Would that or would that not be ridiculous?

That little scooter carried did carry a little extra heft and for many miles. I purchased it to drive from Covina to Diamond Bar going back and forth to work.

I rode it every day for two years unless it rained or was just to cold during the winter months.

Dad had ask me what I thought of my vespa several times, in fact he even came over to my house and rode it one time for about a block, I remember that day well, because I was sure he was going to fall off of it, as he made a turn around at the end of my street. He was not very balanced on it and did not know how to lean with the turn.

He never told me the reason for his interest in my little vespa.

Later on I purchased a honda motorcycle to ride back and forth to work, and thought that I was really styling. 🙂 I had intended to sell the vespa, but I purchase my Honda in the winter when they were cheaper due to the cold wet weather.

I also knew that during the cold weather, was not exactly the right time to sell my vespa. So in my garage it sat.

I loved my new Honda, being much bigger, having twin exaust a lower hum to the sound and I could ride it up in the mountains with out ever having to slow down.

One day my dad came over with out saying he was coming, and that was not like him. What he came over for – was to ask me if I would sell him my little scooter, so that he could give it to Julie.

In her Post, Julie mentioned it did not have a spare tire, first of all my feet were too big and it got in the way – where they put it so I took it off, I can not remember if I still had the tire or not when I sold it to dad? I never had to use it anyway.

Besides I thought my Honda was cooler at the time. The tires were easier to change if I ever had to. 🙂

I wonder if the dirt track stayed level with her riding it around all that time? :=)

Little Sis I am thankful you had fond memories of it, I did too.

I also rode it to the beach just like you and I went down #39 several times to Huntington Beach in my ‘vette. 🙂

Love, Lar
