What an amazing song and video, Shelley. Thank you for reading the blog and for sharing this. I encourage every person reading to look at the link/song in Shelley’s comment above. It made my day.

Perhaps this was just the day to respond. Your post was a little while ago, and what struck me most in all the musings was the celebration of your 29th anniversary with the conversation including plans for next year. Here’s a belated recommendation of a song that celebrates marriage.

Below is a link to The Rabbit Room’s main homepage. It’s a music video of the song “Dancing in the Minefields” posted on July 19th. I greatly respect the songwriting of Andrew Peterson, he has a way to weave words, melody into something wonderful. For instance, during the second chorus having the piano/accordian player and the 2nd guitarist sing “Don’t Give Up On Me” in the background. Plus, there’s something simply touching about watching elderly couples dance.

May it be a blessing….

2) I looked carefully for England in your musings on holiday destinations and was relieved to find it occur later on.
3) The deer are fab. Once while poking around a fab website called for Indian clothing, looking at saris, I came across a description that made me laugh a lot. The ‘pallu’ on a sari is the bit that hangs down at the back and is more ornate than the main part. On one particular sari our attention was drawn to the lovely design on the pallu which depicted, they said: ‘A Lady and a Dear’. Still makes me laugh.

If you stop by and we don’t have iced tea made, I’ll make you some, Rob. Bring Gayle too!

They often come by this way. I might stop by for some iced tea if you have it available, and if my busier-than-usual summer schedule allows me.

Our summer months at a California beach are a little different than yours. We enjoy most of our evening meals from the barbecue whether it be chicken, burgers or hot dogs for the kids. We live in our 5th wheel in an “RV Resort” which basically means a lot of transient folks coming through on the weekends, creating havoc, then leaving, leaving the messes behind. Takes a couple of days to recover and then we do it all again. I am working from my place lately to see if I can do it effectively and maybe let my office go to stretch our funds a little better. So far so good, but we will see.

I listen to a local Christian radio station most of the day and get my daily dose of worship music which helps me keep my head on straight the rest of the time. My absolute favorite thing to do right now (besides hangin’ out with my ruggedly handsome husband) is power walking around a beach island about a quarter mile away from where we live. It is about a 5-7 mile walk for me and it is my prayer time, creative thinking time, and just plain hangin out with God time. It is so beautiful and I marvel at the wonder of the ocean and God’s creation and provision. I enjoy seeing the beautiful homes, lovely gardens, and ponder what it would be like to live on “the island.” Two to three times in the week I walk with a new friend and we talk about our lives, what God has done to shape who we are, etc. She will be leaving come mid August, but will be back and we will keep in touch.

We will be blessed having three of our grandchildren with us the first week in August while their parents take a vacation in Hawaii. Malia (6) told her mother that she and her brothers (5 & 9) were going to have a better time than mom & dad because they will be at the beach with Grandma and Grandpa!! Malia, if you only knew! But I am running with it. I have been visiting the dollar bin at Target and stocking up on fun stuff.

Our weather has been cold and drizzly in the mornings and evenings. The sun finally came out yesterday at 5:00pm. Unusual for this time of year in So. CA. But, it is keeping some of the crowds away so I am glad of that :)!

I too am counting my blessings each day, and am learning new ways to have conversations with God, saying a daily prayer of gratitude that I am here one more day, and just simply waiting on him.

That’s what is going on with me these days . . . not that you asked 🙂
