I love this idea. What fixture did you use to hang them? I’m wondering if you used those metal plate hangers or something else.

Julie: I love, love, love the plates ~ but I do have 1 question: Aren’t they a pain to clean? Sorry. My brain goes Lovely to look at but do I really want to spend the necessary time to keep it looking that good? Some things just have to be saved for heaven where I’m sure there’s no dust to spoil the effect. Me, I mean. I’m sure you dust. I’m so myopic now I don’t see the dust [or so I tell people!?]

In reply to Helen in Switzerland. I agree with you about a Scandinavian look, Helen! So much of this house has that vibe from the former owners. It feels like exploring new territory in many ways, learning to decorate in a different way. I'm getting used to it and liking it. And yes, keeping the mantel fairly empty would make it easy to dust. Not that I dust, but I know what you mean. xxoo :)

I think if I was you I’d put the photo on and leave the rest empty – looking clear, sophisticated and vaguely Scandinavian – and oh so easy to keep clean!
