Welcome Kathy Sue – thank you for commenting. We have a stuffed cardinal too, and learned to recognize the songs of real cardinals by listening to its recording. 🙂

My Mom is a bird lover, especially bluebirds of happiness. Someone gave her that same bluebird and it sits with all the crystal and blown glass bluebirds on a shelf! I didn’t know it sang-now I have to go squeeze it’s tummy!!

I am thankful for antibiotics…..no I’m not being silly. Without them, I would still have strep throat and feel like “the end hath come”. I am also thankful for Virginia Sooters spaghetti sauce recipe simmering on my stove and the bag of Snickers in the freezer.

We used to make our own play~doh. When I worked my Star was left in the tender mercies of my Dearest. One day I arrived home to find my house white with flour from top to bottom. While her father slept my 4 year old made herself pay~doh, alone & unassisted! I am very grateful she made the *uncooked* version!

We love birds too [yes, I clicked across to read the story of the red cardinal] & keep a bird bath on our deck & it is such a joy to watch the little birds come & enjoy their daily abolutions. Dearest refers to it as the cat snack bar.

Every year I wait to see if the autumn is going to be the special kind that I love: still and calm and golden, warm slanting amber sun in the afternoons, mist in the mornings, cold dew on the cobwebs in the garden at start of day, lazy woodsmoke from bonfires in the late afternoons. Something happens to time so that it almost stands still and the year goes quiet.

And YES! This year we have that kind of autumn. And I give thanks.
