Thank you for your encouraging words, Helen. This week has brought many changes to our home, and contacting a social worker is top on my list. Blessings to you, dear friend… xoxo

I think you are right in thinking about contacting a social worker – maybe some respite for you would be helpful and perhaps they can come up with some practical support for you as well. I’m thinking of you my friend and wish I lived nearer and could offer some practical help 😉

I look forward to the day when you can know my friend Sue, Christy. And I want her to know you. I am grateful for the comments people leave here — they make us laugh, think, and are often such a balm of blessing. xoxo

It’s not a pity party but grief that needs to be cried out. I wish someone had said those words to me years ago……but I hear them now….and they still apply. Thank you Sue.

I find I do the same, Ember. I’m very concerned about making sure I’m as comfortable as possible, and making everything just so, so I can function best. I sometimes wonder if for me, my comfort is some sort of idol. Blech. Thank you for taking time to visit and comment here, dear friend from across the sea… xoxo

I always focused on the wonderful miracles God did in Daniel’s life, and in Daniel’s faithfulness and courage as a man of God. But then when I think about it, in *my* life (as opposed to Daniel’s) the yardstick by which I measure is to do with comfort and perfection – having everything just the way I want it. Daniel had the miracles because he needed them – because he didn’t have anything else. xxx Good thoughts – thank you!!

You say I love hard, Sue. Well you see graciously. You see what people can be when they’re not there yet, which is very much like Jesus, in my opinion. Thank you for words that truly moved and strengthened me today, my dear friend. xoxo

It is one of the things i find so attractive in you. It is also why you won’t think twice about spending $700 on surgery for your dog or putting her on a special diet.

I am drawn to the Lord as I am aware of the way you are walking the hard journey with Michael’s illness. Perhaps your times of dissolving into tears are not so much self pity, but genuine grief that needs to be cried out on a regular basis.

Yes, things are very confusing for a lot of people right now, Ganeida. Obamacare is supposed to make health care here affordable, and so far every single person I know who has done their online calculations is shocked by how much their health coverage will go up. One example I know — one family of five will go from paying $800 per month to $1500 per month, and they cannot afford it. But they will be penalized if they don’t buy it. About home care help — yes, we have that here too. My mother had it in her later years and what a blessing it was. I will be making some calls very soon. I loved the picture of you and John! xoxo

Out here we have people who will come into your home & help by cooking, cleaning, bathing feeding ~ whatever gives the main carer some relief ~ several times a week. It is hard though. None of the choices are ever easy. I don’t know about the cats, but I know John mopes when I have to be away & there is a palpable sense of relief when I’m back where I should be! It drives me a little crazy.

Marlow has allergies [& we are all slightly allergic to him!] & grooms constantly but we have not had to resort to a collar! 🙂
