I’m sitting here in my office during the blizzard today Jessica (which I know you’re seeing too!) and when I read your comment I laughed out loud. You should do a blog post called “Grab His Testicles!” I would leave a nice long comment on it. 🙂 I’m sure you could think of something. :O

HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! That is hilarious. I MUST win that one just for the title. And I guess if I don’t win, I could buy it myself. LOVE IT!!!!!!

One time, many years ago, I saw an episode of the Oprah Winfrey show which was focused on women’s self defense. I don’t remember a lot of the show but at one point they brought in a man to “attack” a woman so she could practice her “new moves.” I will never forget seeing and hearing Oprah yell, quite loudly, “GRAB HIS TESTICLES!!!!!!!!!” And I have to say the phrase pops into my head from time to time when I think of or hear of things related to self defense. She also used the phrase “divide and conquer” in regard to that bodily area and that phrase comes up in other settings too and I always chuckle to myself. Well, not always to myself.

Anyway, there you go. =)

Hi Linda! Next time I will be better prepared on the Timber Twister. I so admire Gracia Burnham and thank you for mentioning the book – will read it. Blizzard is upon us now…..talk soon.

What a gleeful picture of Clara & her adventurous grandmother! And Sarah….you sure she’s not really Cinderella?? She sure looks like her to me. 🙂 Am currently reading “To Fly Again–Surviving the Tailspins of Life” by Gracia Burnham …heart wrenching ordeal she & her missionary husband endured but Gracia continues to use it to help teach us the power of faith hope …& prayer.

Oh dear – I wouldn’t want to make you stumble, Kay! 🙂 I also hope you don’t find the book depressing – Ember thought it sounded like it might be. I actually found it inspiring, even if there were sad parts. Yes, I have read Ann Voskamp’s book and love her blog too. A friend of mine just told me she had read One Thousand Gifts for the third time and it had sunk in on the third read. 🙂 Maybe it’s time for me to read it again too. God bless your week too…..

I’ve just broken one of my February resolutions (New Year resolutions were broken and blown away with the wind ages ago!). And it’s all your fault dear Julie – I just had to go and order ‘Lying Awake’ because of your recommendation. 😉 I was being so very good, just looking at books on Amazon and contenting myself with drooling over the reviews, and then you recommend a book that sounded soooo fascinating. Alan thinks you’re a bad influence – any excuse for me to buy a new book.
As to the prayer issue, I feel exactly the same as you in that as I gracefully mature (I wish!) I want to pray more. Ann Voskamp’s book ‘One Thousand Gifts’ has helped focus my prayer. If you haven’t got that book, I definitely recommend it. (I can almost hear Alan sniggering at the thought that now you’ll be the one rushing out to buy a book, though he’s really much too kind to do that sort of thing).
Kay
xx

I would like Fi’s recipe if she has one and could share. I also ordered the book you mentioned, Ember. And “Lying Awake” wasn’t depressing to me – it was quite the opposite, because the main character learns how to trust God in new ways and in the dark, I guess you could say. Blessings on you and yours today….

We had a fab Chana Masala that Fi made us for dinner last night. The thing I threw out today was two cool blocks for freezing to keep stuff cold in transit.
I am also reading about Carmelite nuns – the account of her life by an actual Carmelite nun, Sister Elizabeth. She writes under her family name, Marie T Litchfield, and the book is called Countryside and Cloister, and I am loving it.

What a nice way to describe Clara’s expression, Roberta! Yes, it was a full weekend and I was grateful for everything about it. Your prayer group sounds wonderful – I’m envious of that, Roberta. And I must respond to your comment about my relationship with God…I feel I am a beginner in many ways of trying to walk with the Lord. I hope I never convey to people that I’m anything but a fellow learner/traveler on the way. I do yearn for so much more than I’ve experienced, but my family could tell you quite honestly about the ways my life doesn’t look like I “have quite the relationship going” with God. It makes me all the more thankful for His grace and mercy….because the older I get, the more I see I need it. God bless your week in NYC dear Roberta!

Her expression seems to shout, “Yay LIFE!”.
What a FULL week-end you described! Your family’s time together sounds enviable to me.
I will be starting with a prayer group, “Meeting Christ in Prayer”, on Wednesday,–really looking forward to it. It sounds as if you and God have quite a relationship going. I am not at all surprised you have been given that grace!
No snow here at all. In New York City it is hardly the beautiful and peaceful experience it can be in more countrified settings. Continued blessings to you and yours!
