What a wonderful website you have! I was laughing at this post, remembering the pre-marital baby names I had settled on: Willow Wood and Gabriel Storm. Breathe deep in relief that they never made the actual list.

Working with newborns has put me in a position to hear and see, try to pronounce and question, question, question mothers about their new baby’s name. Do you REALLY want to spell it like that? Do you know that people will mispronounce it all the time? Have you thought about what a 15 year old boy will think of that name? All coaching aside (which is certainly given in the most loving of ways), mothers continue to harness their children with names that boggle the mind. I have seen babies named after the elements, precious and semi-precious gems/stones, soft drinks, weapons, seasons, numbers, days of the week, months of the year, trees, and flowers. Some names were admittedly “made up”. Some were cute, some were scary! Farrah wouldn’t have been too bad. Thankfully, God knows us as “Beloved” no matter what we write on the signature line!

Speaking of names that are alliterative…my poor firstborn is Jordan Joel Johnson (Jo Jo JO) poor kid couldn’t even say his J’s until he was six (Thordan Thoel Thohnson). I suppose Sharon would’ve grown into the name Farrah…but then again, maybe not.

The Russell’s came on Sunday and stayed till this morning which kept me from getting to your blog. I did show them
what you had written about your dad. I think Michael picked Sharon up from the airport and drove her up here one time.
All of this said just to say, you picked the right name for your daughter but wasn’t it fun to dream about the name you thought you might have chosen. It is similar to our walk with The Lord, learning, growing and being at the right place at the right time to do Our Masters Will. Sharon is beautiful and what a fantastic mother she is.
