Our Tribute

December 31, 2018 | My Jottings

IMG_0053I’m republishing this one so anyone who missed my daughter’s slideshow at Michael’s funeral can see it. The link to click is below.

Friday was my husband Michael’s funeral. I don’t know how I’m going to write about everything yet, so for now I will share the tribute our daughter Sharon compiled for her dad.

This wonderful slideshow was played at the funeral, and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the church. I’ve watched this over and over, and it makes me weep and smile and remember and pray and laugh out loud and praise the Lord each time.

I will never get over the gift of having a husband like Michael. To have had his love makes me feel like the most blessed of women.

I hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch it all the way to the end, and let me know what you think. It’s an absolute treasure to me. (Thank you, dear Sharon…xoxoxox)

Please be sure to turn your speakers up, and click here to watch.

God bless and keep you all,

  3. Susan A. Reed says:

What a gift that was to you Julie and to all of you, that was so of God and Sharon what a blessing that you used your gift. I have a lump in my throat so big I feel like I cannot swallow. I am so glad you shared this, as I felt cheated not being able to go to his service, but now I felt like I have been there. Oh Julie, you have been so blessed, He is just a little ahead of you in Heaven and his suffering is all gone, soon we will all be with those who went ahead of us. God is good.
Love you my friend and sister in Christ, Susan

  4. Dorothy Sooter says:

I also cried. It was a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man. Sharon is such a talent. Believe she can do anything she sets her mind to. So glad Christy is there with you. I keep trying to reach you by phone but no luck yet.

  5. Ganeida says:

  7. Janet Skoglund says:

Dearest Julie, Michael was so honored by your whole family. The service was truly a testimony and celebration of his life. Sara’s floral arrangement was beautiful. Carolyn and Jeremy’s singing was so anointed. Sharon’s arrangement of this tribute is so touching. Your grandchildren sharing their hearts and memories of their grandfather was so sweet. I came away knowing that I am not Michael Balmer, as Sharon put this question to every one in attendance. But came away with a thankfulness and a privilege of knowing him better. We are always going to hold you and Michael in our hearts for the gift that the Lord gave you both.

  8. Just Julie says:

To each one of you who have commented here — thank you from the bottom of my heart. I watch this slide slow presentation of Michael’s life at least once a day, and all three songs and every picture makes me smile and weep — all things I want to do right now. God bless you all…. xoxo

  9. Ember says:

Such a wonderful, wise and loving tribute – a capsule of tenderness to bring healing and comfort. xxx

  10. Nancy says:

I am so so sorry. I have followed your blog and the incredible love story between you and your husband. I went down the same road almost a year ago. I recently dreamed of my husband and we were doing something together in a warm climate like Mexico. He was healthy. A friend said it was a sign I was healing as I was seeing him healed and not sick anymore. Again my sympathy. hugs and prayers for you and your family. God bless.

  11. Just Julie says:

Nancy, I look forward to dreaming about Michael — thank you for telling me about yours. I know you have walked this road, and I’m grateful for your kind words. God bless you and your family too, dear Nancy…. xoxo
